It was 20 years ago

I know I will get in trouble for this one. OH GEE; Pat was ALWAYS the favorite. ......... But, anyway, I thought I'd share since we're celebrating 20 years of Grandma having a new favorite "son".

This was sent to me as a polaroid from Grandpa Henry. I never got to see Grandma on a bike for real, but this was a fun moment shared by Dalila and me before we were married. Perhaps someone in Cincinnati can give the background story behind the bike.

Grandma always had problems expressing herself at parties.

But bring a ham to the dinner table and you better be prepared to eat Skyline chile.

Then Grandma came to California and her food horizons were expanded to Octopus. This was taken at the Wherehouse restaraunt in Marina del Rey, where I believe that everyone that has ever visited us in So. Cal has also had dinner. Unfortunately, the octopus is only served for brunch and scheduling conflicts (like waking up before noon) have prevented a reoccurance.

Per Maureen ... WHO IS THAT GUY? What's with the look on grandma's face? Jimmy Listerman is in the background, but that's not grandpa on the dance floor. I am pretty sure this version of cowboy grandma is from Mike and Mary Beth's wedding. Corrections are welcome as well as contributions of other funny grandma moments.

Gee whiz, here's a test. What was the dog's name? Did you ever notice that grandpa liked green cars?

Now we get to the pictures that no one else currently reading this could have been part of and that I can't give much background to. However, I would like to point out, that at one time, grandma was really skinny.

This is really my first memory of a place where we lived. I remember the door in the background as the back door at Atwood avenue. It was a nice backyard, but I remember getting stung by bees and getting my first mud pack to get the stinger out and to reduce the pain.
Check out the cars in the background.

Try this out for size. Long distance tic tac toe, while we lived in St. Louis and grandma was in Cincinnati. Make sure you check out the post mark.

Note the letterhead from the Florrisant JCs. Ask Steve what happenned a few years later with the switchboard. It seems that he had an early head start on his prowess as a master technician. Can't remember if the switchboard ever worked again.

Add your favorite pictures when you get a chance.
