April Showers; Daughter like mother

Hoping all is well with all. Wish we could have been in town for the baby shower for Joyce and TBD. Guess April is a good month for showers and planning for upcoming BIG events. I was just moving to London from Barcelona 30 years ago when I got this letter and newspaper clipping. Sorry about the scan quality. The paper is getting brittle. Hope to see some updated postings from Cinti soon.

All this led up to a soon to be grandma :)
Remember to check out what happenning out hear in California.

Sky Cam

Maureen's family contact info document and Google Earth were a source of entertainment between phone interviews and emails today. From this picture, it looks like we live pretty close together.
Not sure what Mike and Mary Beth's current status is, but I hate to report that based on the address given, your house has not been built yet. Perhaps the Google sattelite needs to fly over more often or young Michael will need to keep a camera handy.
Note: If you can't find your house, the picture is the legend.

It was 20 years ago

I know I will get in trouble for this one. OH GEE; Pat was ALWAYS the favorite. ......... But, anyway, I thought I'd share since we're celebrating 20 years of Grandma having a new favorite "son".

This was sent to me as a polaroid from Grandpa Henry. I never got to see Grandma on a bike for real, but this was a fun moment shared by Dalila and me before we were married. Perhaps someone in Cincinnati can give the background story behind the bike.

Grandma always had problems expressing herself at parties.

But bring a ham to the dinner table and you better be prepared to eat Skyline chile.

Then Grandma came to California and her food horizons were expanded to Octopus. This was taken at the Wherehouse restaraunt in Marina del Rey, where I believe that everyone that has ever visited us in So. Cal has also had dinner. Unfortunately, the octopus is only served for brunch and scheduling conflicts (like waking up before noon) have prevented a reoccurance.

Per Maureen ... WHO IS THAT GUY? What's with the look on grandma's face? Jimmy Listerman is in the background, but that's not grandpa on the dance floor. I am pretty sure this version of cowboy grandma is from Mike and Mary Beth's wedding. Corrections are welcome as well as contributions of other funny grandma moments.

Gee whiz, here's a test. What was the dog's name? Did you ever notice that grandpa liked green cars?

Now we get to the pictures that no one else currently reading this could have been part of and that I can't give much background to. However, I would like to point out, that at one time, grandma was really skinny.

This is really my first memory of a place where we lived. I remember the door in the background as the back door at Atwood avenue. It was a nice backyard, but I remember getting stung by bees and getting my first mud pack to get the stinger out and to reduce the pain.
Check out the cars in the background.

Try this out for size. Long distance tic tac toe, while we lived in St. Louis and grandma was in Cincinnati. Make sure you check out the post mark.

Note the letterhead from the Florrisant JCs. Ask Steve what happenned a few years later with the switchboard. It seems that he had an early head start on his prowess as a master technician. Can't remember if the switchboard ever worked again.

Add your favorite pictures when you get a chance.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Well; it's that time of life again. Just another job change. With all of the economic woes of the financial industry, my company has been in the midst of layoffs. This was my week to get caught in the middle.

Good news is that I finally went out and bought a computer of my own and once again can get on instant messaging and have my very own web cam. No more 14 hour days and 3 hours commuting. God does work in mysterious ways and this is one more opportunity to figure out the next plan.

You'll also note that Dalila has already confiscated the checks and that Patrick is as crazy as ever.
